Finished trimming LE rib to clear skin and trimmed top rib at leadinng edge for clearance.
Fit tip to vert stab. First pushed the tip in far enough to get a good transition from the leading edge. Installed the rudder one rivet hole lower than normal and used it as a guide to level the tip. Pilot drilled the tip and clecoed using the skin pilot holes. Using a 3' flexible ruler as a straight edge, extended the top skin line to the back of the tip. Layed out a rivet line 1/4" below the skin extension line (that should be the center of the rib). Shimmed a space between the tip and the rib, and drilled through the tip only. Used that hole to visually align the previously marked blue center line on the rib, drilled the rib and clecoed the tip and rib. Finished drilling and clecoing all the tip holes. As can be seen in Image 1, I need to trim about 1" off the bottom of the tip. With it trimmed even with the flange, there should be about a 1/4" gap between the top of the rudder and the tip.
Removed the skin and tip, deburred all holes on skin and structure. When the tip is trimmed, I should be ready to rivet the skin in place.
Torqued bolts on aft root rib and aft spar to 25 in-lb and applied Torque Seal.
Only part incomplete is installing T-08-13 and -17. T08-17 still backordered and expecting it in a few day.
